Here is one more reason why you can use a playpen instead of a crib.
Can i use play yard instead of crib.
Having said that i know lots of people who have used a play yard instead of a crib and baby is just fine.
Might be an option if you don t want to shell out a lot of cash on a crib.
My son is 2 still can sleep in it in a pinch though.
Pack n play playards are intended for naps and play time but are not intended to replace a crib.
We have both the play yard was a gift but my son has always slept better in the crib.
My parents ended up buying a crib for ds for their house ikea it s great and was only 79.
While a play yard does have support a mattress in a crib is made specifically for long term daily use.
Do not add extra mattresses or soft bedding.
A playpen is if you are going outdoors for several hours it could be for a picnic or camping instead of carrying a crib carry a play pen.
I think it depends on the baby as well.
We have a two story home and we keep the bassinet in our room for the first 3 months or so a crib upstairs in the nursery for naps if i m playing upstairs with my older kids and for sleeping after the first few months and the play yard downstairs in the living room.
Never used the play yard at home only for travel at grandma s etc.
Cribs are designed to be small beds.
Therefore just like beds they are not meant to be disassembled and reassembled easily.
I m a third time mom and had all 3 for my girls and will use them again for this baby.
We have both but my daughter prefers the crib.
